Test summary:

review 2018 Happn App:

A dating app with a bit of a unique twist, Happn began in 2015 and originated in France. The download numbers are now over 500,000 which isn't too bad. Germany and the United Kingdom have also been hit with Happn fever. What's also good news is that it is available on iOS and Android.

The function is similar to the likes of Tinder and Grindr, but done slightly differently. Using the GPS on your phone, matches are detected. Matches are also quite limited, since they are only picked up in a nearby radius.

The main point is that unlike Zoosk, some people may find this a quirky and fun way to date and others may find it too unsettling.

Login to the Happn App

There is a lot more similarity to Tinder with the Happn app when you login: if you get a match, then you can either like (on the blue heart) them or pass. As stated before, there is a geographical range to which your matches are actually limited and this is around 250 metres. If there is a mutual like between you and your match then a "Crush" occurs. After this, communication opens.

You don't have to use the blue heart feature all the time if you find someone you like, though. "Charms" can be used in this case, which allows you to invite a match to come and speak to you.

RATHER INTERESTING:

Another unique point of this dating app is that you are not just shown singles who are around you at that moment in time. You will also be shown singles who have passed through the area you're currently in. So, if you happened to see someone you liked on the train or in the supermarket, it is highly likely that you can find them!

In Conclusion...

France has advertised this app quite well and it seems to fit in our dating apps category. There is a considerable amount of potential on Happn, or so we think, but it is a little too similar to Tinder. This is something the app needs to be careful of if it wishes tom make progress in the UK.

Happn App - Costs:

  • Happn is free to download and use.
  • Charms, for women, are also free.
  • Men, however, must pay $1.49/credits.
